What Kind Of Effect Does Divorce Have On Children?

Children caught in the middle of a divorce experience a plethora of negative emotions brought on by the upheaval in their lives. Many think they can remedy the situation since they think they caused it in the first place. They also worry, thinking that if their parents have stopped loving each other, maybe they'll stop loving their children, too. There are new money problems and living conditions that are new to everyone. Children wonder if anything will ever be right again, and they'd love to stop the divorce and save the marriage.

No matter which parent the children are assigned to live with, things have changed. One of the parents may be forced to work when they didn't have to in the past. Large child support payments can make life very difficult too. Parents often aren't aware that their children pick up on all of their emotions after a divorce. They definitely don't understand why there is so much sadness if this is what their parents want to do.

Many children start doing badly in school because of a divorce. They constantly compare their past and current lives. Children don't understand why their parents aren't in love anymore. Children just think their parents should buckle up and try harder in order to set things back right. Although you'll still love them, they can't understand that since you say you don't love their other parent anymore

Lots of children see what it's like in their friends' homes and know what real marital problems are. It's common for some to witness abuse of some shape or form. They think that his dad must really hate this spouse, yet the two of them are still together. Children wonder why their parents aren't still together even if their marriage seemed better than their friend's parents' marriage. They are totally confused by all the things that are going on around them, and they don't understand why you don't get help in fixing the family. They may make the mistake of believing you don't care enough about them.

You certainly don't want that for your kids do you?
